And Now for Something Completely Different…

Well, not really, but a little different.

What’s coming next is the first complete Legion of Nothing story written by someone other than me. It’s written by Robert Rodgers alias “The Great Hippo” who some of you may recognize from his own web fiction, one of which is called “The Last Skull.”

Those of you who have read The Last Skull will recognize a few characters in the story. Those of you who haven’t will be introduced to them.

Odd thing about how this story came to be. When we did an April Fools Day writer’s swap, the person who was going to write the story had a hard time with it, and due to miscommunication, no one told me.

Thus, both Gavin volunteered to write something (and he did), and so did Robert–except Robert’s grew into something much bigger.

We’re talking 17,000 words here.

That’s roughly two months of material for me. So here’s what’s going to happen. I’m going to serialize it three days a week in a little less than 3000 word chunks. That’ll give me two weeks in which I can work on the ebook version of Book One, and get myself started on the next Legion storyline (Nick narrates what happens during the rest of their summer break which is not especially restful).

I think everyone will enjoy it. Robert did a great job of recognizing what makes the characters work.

The first segment goes up later today.

Coming Attractions…

Some of you are probably wondering what happened with the poll.

I thought I’d answer your question. So, just for the record, there were 279 votes. People could vote for more than one person, and so that’s less than 279 people participating, but that’s the way it was supposed to work, so cool.

You can go back to the poll (by choosing previous on the bottom of the front page) and find out what happened yourself, but I’ll save you the bother for at least the top five. Continue reading Coming Attractions…

Not Quite Done

Owing to a variety of things, the current post isn’t done. It’ll appear later tonight.

Also, my apologies to everyone about the horrible slowness of the site on late Friday and Saturday. The server this is on got hit by a Denial of Service attack. As an added bonus, they then had to do things after preventing the attack to get the server back to responding reasonably quickly.

Hopefully it is now…

An April Fools Day Post (that is totally true)

Take a look at Gavin Williams “The Surprising Life and Death of Diggory Franklin.” I did his April Fools Day post.

The other… Alexandra Erin is doing something interesting called “Lit Snacks” in which she writes an ebook and sells advertising in the back of it. She was kind enough to give me free advertising in the first one “The Gift of the Bad Guy” (a piece of superhero fiction).

I’d planned to mention it when it came out, but I somehow didn’t notice. Thus I mention it today.

Legion of Nothing on Podiobooks

Hey everybody…

Daniel Blumberg recently decided to read “The Legion of Nothing” aloud and turn it into mp3 files for anyone to download.

It will be available on Podiobooks soon, and I thought I’d promote the official launch here since there’s a good chance that some of you will be interested. Also, if you happen to know other people who like audio books, this might promote the Legion of Nothing to them.

He’s planning to read the whole thing, which is great because he’s doing a good job.

It’s funny. I’d been considering doing it myself for a while, but never found the time. Also, I’d never bought the necessary equipment. He’s done both and made good use of them…
